Tougher beds. Sprayed in.

Straight answers on spray-in bedliners — how they're applied, what they cost, how long they last and how to choose an applicator you can trust.

Why spray-in

A spray-in bedliner isn't a mat or a plastic shell. It's a coating that bonds to your truck — sealing out water, grit and rust while it takes every hit you throw at it.

  • Impact & abrasion resistant
  • Seamless & watertight
  • Custom-fit to every contour
  • UV-stable topcoats

Easy peasy.

The liner is dry to the touch in seconds, the premium topcoat in under an hour, and it's fully cured in about 24 hours.

How it works

Four steps.
One bonded shell.

Tap each step to see how a professional spray-in liner is built, layer by layer.

  1. The bed is cleaned, degreased and abraded so the coating has something to grip. Anything that shouldn't be coated is masked off.

  2. Where the system calls for it, a primer helps the liner bond to bare metal, factory paint or plastic for a lasting grip.

  3. Specialized equipment sprays a fast-setting polyurea that flows into every contour and is dry to the touch in seconds.

  4. A UV-stable topcoat helps the finish resist fading. Most liners are ready for light use within hours and fully cured in about a day.

What is a spray-in bedliner?

It's a protective coating — typically polyurea or a polyurethane hybrid — sprayed directly onto the truck bed. It bonds to the surface and cures into a seamless, textured layer that resists impacts, abrasion and moisture.

Spray-in or drop-in — which is better?

A spray-in liner bonds to the bed and conforms to every contour, so there are no gaps for water and grit to collect. Drop-ins are removable plastic shells that can shift and trap moisture underneath. Read the full comparison.

How long does it take to apply?

Most of the time goes into prep — cleaning, scuffing and masking. The coating itself is dry to the touch in seconds, and a typical liner is fully cured in about 24 hours. Always follow your applicator's guidance for your product.

Will a black bedliner fade in the sun?

Many liner materials can chalk or fade with long UV exposure. A UV-stable (aliphatic) topcoat helps keep the color rich. Why black bedliners fade.

How long does a spray-in liner last?

A properly prepped and applied professional liner can protect a bed for many years. Prep quality, thickness and UV protection matter most. What shortens a liner's life.

Can I do it myself?

DIY roll-on and aerosol kits exist, but they're generally thinner than professionally sprayed polyurea. See what DIY kits can and can't do.
